Communication

Communicating your carbon management plan clearly plays a vital role in the ongoing effort to reducing carbon emissions.

Information should be tailored according to the intended audience and a good communication plan should account for:

  • An internal audience, including: employees, investors, stakeholders, and other key actors

  • An external audience, including: customers, funding bodies, regulatory bodies, and public media campaigns

Your communication plan should focus on:

  • Letting your audience know what you are up to (concisely)

  • Being engaging, non technical (where possible), and keeping jargon to a minimum

  • Encouraging “buy in” from staff and other stakeholders

  • Inspiring others to take similar steps towards sustainability

  • Being positive about what your company have done, are doing, and plan to do next

We believe that being transparent about your efforts and progress makes the implementation of a carbon management plan easier by creating a culture of celebration and accountability.

Mediums

Information doesn’t need to be limited to written texts. Your communication plan can include a range of creative approaches, including infographics.

Infographics allow you to present complex information in an engaging way that can be easily understood by a wide range of audiences.

Here is an example of one we came up with here at CLD Carbon. If you are interested in coming up with something similar then please get in touch!
